Asked whether she saw herself in her daughter during an interview withExtra, the model and new mom replied, “Yeah, I do,” before quickly adding that she can see a lot of Verlander there too.
“I feel like she’s a really cute mixture of us both,” Upton explained.
Sharing a sweet story behind her daughter’s name, Upton toldExtrathat although Genevieve was her top pick, she ultimately left the final choice to her husband.
“We were going back and forth even in the hospital,” she recalled. “Justin hadsome real name-commitment issues. I actually just kind of left him on his own.”
“He knew Genevieve was my favorite, so I just left him to fill out the paperwork. I was like, ‘I can’t deal with that right now,’ ” she added.

“It’s that weird mixture,” she revealed. “I probably shouldn’t be saying this but it’s kind of nice tobust out of the house a little bit, get away, but it’s always sad. I always miss her.”

Although Upton added that she’s not quite ready tohave any more kidswith the MLB pitcher just yet, she did praise his parenting skills, sharing that Verlander is a very hands-on dad who’s “always” down to be on diaper duty.
“It’s so special and it just makes me fall in love with him even more,” she raved.

Shortly afterannouncing their daughter’s birth, the proud papa, 35, shared an adorable photo of himselfcradling his newbornin his arms.
“Didn’t win #cyyoungaward, but I can’t be too upset when I have this little girl waiting for her daddy off camera!” he wrote in the caption.
Inanother post, theHouston Astros star added, “Welcome to the world Genevieve Upton Verlander. You stole my ❤️ the first second I met you!!! 11.7.2018.”
Earlier that month, Upton told PEOPLE that her perspective on working out has changed throughout the years, from “wanting to fit into a certain dress size and hit certain measurements” to now, instead, “working out to feel healthy, strong and energized for my lifestyle.”
Upton said she found the right workout for her lifestyle with trainerBen Bruno, whohelped her transform her bodyand build serious muscleduring their workoutsfive to six days a week.
As for what health means to her, Upton said it’s “all about feeling good.”
“When I’m eating healthy and staying active, I feel the best about myself and my body,” she told PEOPLE. “That’s why consistency through a sustainable, practical program is key for me.”
