urine is necessary to make Coke , but what happens when the process is reverse to change by reversal Coke into piddle ? This art installation shows you how it ’s done .
Artist Helmut Smits worked with Martien Würdemann of the University of Amsterdam ’s Synthetic Organic Chemistry Groupto plan the task which take a bottle of snow and pull up salute waterfrom it . So how does the showing , called The Real Thing , work?Wiredexplains the process :
There ’s a crank bottleful of Coca - Cola boiling in a beaker of oil . As the sugary drink boils , it slowly give body of water vapor that ’s then pick up in glass piping and transferred into another beaker . In just one day , the machine can commute a bottle of Coke into a glass of white drinking water . If you ’ve ever seen Waterworld , this will surely sound a little conversant .

Now exactly how much water Smits was capable to educe from a bottle of Coke is n’t clear . for certain , this process would result in some loss in the transfer . Plus , as Smitspointed out to Dezeen magazine , it took nine litre of H2O to make that undivided liter of Coke in the first place . Are there more efficient ways to get safe , blank drinking pee out into the reality than a Coke to water transmutation ? Undoubtedly .
Still , it raises another major water issue : Availability . “ In some part of the world mass do n’t have admittance to clean imbibing water , ” Smits distinguish Dezeen , “ but you may purchase a bottle of Coke there . ”
