At first coup d’oeil , this picture of two masses kissing amidst the Vancouver hockey game riots seems incongruous . You instantly assume they ’re activists , follow through with the old saw of making dear , not state of war . Or are they ?
You see , this photo — which has go viral thanks to Twitter and the various news show sites that report on the Canadian scream — actually is n’t all it seems to be . In fact , one witness has an entirely different story from the photo , of the case from that Nox :

“ The fille who was knocked over set down head first on the pavement with her boyfriend landed partially on top of her . She was in seeable pain , battle cry , but the two officer hand them a leave shove and move on . bystander proceed to check that she was hunky-dory . ”
Those caring bystander can be picturedin this image here , as the boyfriend is still laid next to his girlfriend , who ’s raised her script to her mouth , almost as if she ’s crying .
Even the lensman of that now world - celebrated photo , Richard Lam , hold “ ab initio I thought one of them was spite . ” It was his editor in chief however , who thought they were kissing , not smart :
“ I knew I had captured a ‘ bit ’ when I snapped the still variant against the backdrop of such topsy-turvydom but it was n’t until afterwards when I retrovert to the rink to charge my photos that my editor pointed out that the two people were not anguish , but kissing . ”
Lam should ’ve commit his instincts , if the supporting pic and witness ’ claims are anything to go by . The man in the photo is say to be a 29 - class - older Australian man , Scott Jones , who relocated to Vancouver to bring for six months . allot to his sis , he wrote “ classical ! This was shortly after the bacchanalia police run over the top of us and naturally Alex needed some comforting ” on his Facebook profile , which could either be seen as take a crap light of his lady friend Alex ’s accidental injury , or a tongue - in - cheek remark about their demonstration … if that ’s indeed what it was .
