Marvel ’s Mutants are used to having a shitty time in the comics , and even at their most beloved there ’s still a ton of prejudice and bigotry at free rein from the world around them . In The Gifted , thing start out bad for our Mutant heroes — and then they chop-chop get bad .
Fox has just released the first six mo of the pilot episode online , and while the master casting of the Strucker family are nowhere to be see , we do get to becharm up with the show ’s take on some intimate mutation from the comics : Blink ( Jamie Chung ) , Polaris ( Emma Dumont ) , Thunderbird ( Blair Redford ) , and then newly - created light - emitting mutant Eclipse ( Sean Teale ) . Turns out they ’re having a harsh night , what with sport being hunt down and dumped into prison .
We ’ve get a line a mickle of this sequence in the various trailers for the show so far , but on its own it does a moderately good job at let us see how The Gifted will address the vastly diverse powers of its cast of mutants , and just how hapless a time they ’ll be face in the show . The answer ? super measly .

The Gifted premieres on Fox October 2 .
