Created as a performance piece for the 2013 Interior Design Week in Cologne , Tom Pawlofsky and Tibor Weissmahr figured it was a majuscule idea to equip an industrial robot arm with a chain saw to chip at stools out of a tree trunk .
Thanks to apt programing , the automaton is capable to carve the stools with absolute preciseness and picayune to no thriftlessness — just discount the mountain of sawdust .

The stools can be purchased by consultation member after each performance , and have a lovely uncut hand-hewn front to them . But everyone involved seems to be blissfully brush off the fact that the artist have just given an fabulously brawny robot a chainsaw for a hand . [ designboom ]
