On the bank of the Nile near the center of Egypt , archaeologist have stumble across yet another amazing find . On the outskirt of the city of Minya , they havefoundan ancient necropolis containing dozens of mummies dating to around 2,000 year quondam .
The burial ground is made up of at least eight tombs – although Mostafa Waziri , the head of archaeology in Egypt , require this number to grow – with each one housing multiple remains . The most impressive tomb is thought to belong to that of a high priest of the god Thoth , the ancient god of the moonlight and wisdom . The tombs were discovered last year , and researchers have spent the last few months excavating what they can . They expect the work will go forward for another five years at least .
