We all have our favourite Star Trek episodes , and the single we think are n’t quite up to sniff . But here ’s something we can all agree on : the IRS ’s near $ 60,000 Star Trek - inspired training video recording from 2010 would bethe worst Star Trek episode ever . No competition .

This footling ditty is so bad , in fact , that the IRS was actually compelled to apologize for it on Friday , after catching some flak about the waste of money from Congress . Somewhere in the shadow , this snip has a GIlligan ’s Island - themed counterpart , but this one accounted for most of the budget and — manifestly — most of the terribleness .
The IRS offered its apologies this way in a program line :
The IRS recognizes and exact seriously our duty to be in force stewards of governance resources and taxpayer dollars . There is no mistaking that this video did not reflect the good stewardship of resources .
They have yet to apologize to poor Star Trek , however . And I ’m sure I ’m not the only one who thinks that ’s in order . [ io9 ]
