But this summer , a squad of architects and engineer have resurrected his 106 - year - previous design for a fell machine for a very unlike purpose : As a mannequin for float , solar - powered structures .
In the early years of the 20th century , the earth ’s engineers were working heavily to prove ( or confute ) the melodic theme of manned flying . Some argue that threatening aircraft were physically impossible , since increase the surface area of a backstage would make the craft too heavy .
