Adan Canto’sDesignated Survivorcastmates and colleagues are paying tribute to the late actor with a touching reunion.
Weeks after news broke that Canto died at age 42 following a reportedprivate journey with appendiceal cancer, fellow stars of the ABC and Netflix drama gathered outside of a memorial service in Iowa for an emotional get-together.
Canto’s wife Stephanie, former costarsKiefer Sutherland,Kal Penn, Italia Ricci andLaMonica Garrett, series creator David Guggenheim and costume designer Nancy Gould were all tagged in the photo.
Guggenheim shared the same image with the caption, “Family forever. Miss and love you, Adan.” Garrett also posted the group image on his page, calling the last few days “a rollercoaster of emotions” as he tagged the location of Clear Lake, Iowa — where Canto’sobituarynoted a funeral service took place at the Surf Ballroom & Museum on Friday.
“Back and forth from tears to laughter at the drop of a dime. Truly was a celebration of life for a great human being. And going through this with our Designated Survivor family was special.@adancantoyou will be missed brother,@stephanie.a.cantowe love you and we’ll be back soon. 🙏🏾#adancanto❤️.”
Canto played the role of Aaron Shore inDesignated Survivor, which ran from 2016 to 2019 and starred 57-year-old Sutherland as Tom Kirkman.
Paying tribute earlier this month, Sutherland called the fellow actor a “wonderful spirit,” sharing an Instagram image of the pair laughing together.
“I am also heartbroken for his wife Steph and his two young children,” he added. Adan, may you rest in peace."
Penn, who played Seth Wright on the show, shared his own carousel post ofon-set photos,calling the news of Canto’s death “absolutely heartbreaking.”
“He was so genuine and warm, immensely talented; such a good person who was simultaneously calm and motivating,” Penn, 46, wrote. “And funny. He was very, very funny. I’m so lucky to have known him. My heart goes out to Steph, the kids, and the whole family.”
Other castmates, including Ricci and Garrett, shared posts this month in honor of Canto, whom Garrett remembered as someone who “exuded both confidence and humility effortlessly.”
