I admit it ; I was bollix away by Battlestar Galactica ’s almost - perfect series closing curtain . But that does n’t mean that there are n’t some things that I wo n’t miss about the show . Spoilers !
popularise The Word “ Frak ”
Yes , yes . It ’s like “ fuck ” but in space . We get it already . “ Frak ” has become wonk commonplace by this point , overuse to the compass point of becoming annoying , especially on non - nerdy TV shows when they want to sink a little geekage for one of their characters . Like all dependable TV show catchphrases – and that ’s really what this one was – it ’s had it ’s day , and it ’s time to slowly allow it slink into the shadows at least until Caprica .

Being treat As Art With The Self - Conscious Capital A
The one dour bank note in the finale ? That would ’ve been the epilogue , where AngelSix and AngelBaltar practically look into the camera and say “ It ’s not just science fabrication , do you see ? It ’s really about the real world ! ” before we get Jimi and the golem clip show . Galactica has always had a tendency to get its pretentiousness on , and that ’s one of the things that made it so marvellously ambitious … but along the way , everyone else pop make very indulgent of that pretence . Yes , it transcended its SF ascendent to become a human drama that anyone could revel , but the self - congratulatory SciFi Channel special ? A niggling bit too much , even for self - promotion . And do n’t get me started on the UN affair .
That Music

Yes , people may have had a trouble with the use of “ All Along The Watchtower , ” but that ’s not the music I ’m talking about here . Bear McCreary is a fine composer whose study on the first couple of seasons of the show ( and , for that subject , on Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Eureka ) was amazing . But as his work beget more ambitious on BSG , it also started to overpower some of the scene , or just take the viewer out of them altogether with unexpected touches ( All I ’m enunciate is this : bagpipe are never a good thought . peculiarly digital bagpipes ) . Although he superintend to keep things under command in the finale , I dread to think where he would ’ve go if the show had bear on for a fifth or 6th season .
Lee Adama In General
Where to start ? With the way that his part never really gel in any fussy charge ( even when that focussing was “ adrift ” ) ? Or how about the unearthly lack of purpose that he served in the show all along ( Was there ever really an Apollo - centric narration electric arc that did n’t feel tacked on to some other game ? ) , or Jamie Bamber ’s execution that on a regular basis mistook lower for emotion ? But , no ; I ’d rather babble about the hold up impression that I ’ll have of Lee Adama from the finale : His giant , giant whisker . you could tell the honest encroachment of a character when the thing that he ’ll really be recall for is that he was fat for a bit during the show ’s third time of year , and it was this look of style - over - substance that must have led Bamber and the show ’s Maker to send Apollo off with a hairstyle that can only have been a tribute to the late ’ 70s era that engender the original show in the first stead . Not for nothing was he one of the few character who did n’t really have any kind of dramatic moment in the serial finish ; anything else might have made you surmise that he was there for some intellect other than to look full . Dualla could ’ve done so much good .

Battlestar Galactica
Okay , this is slightly unfair ; I thought BSG was a grand show , despite all of the above , one that engross my heart and my mind and poked and prod in all the correct ways , questioning and exciting and entertaining ( if you’re able to use that word for such a constantly uncheerful , pessimistic show ) at all times . But if there ’s one thing that the close execute , it was finishing the tale . By the metre it was done , I felt as if everything that call for to be said had been say , and said attractively … and then there was the trailer for Battlestar Galactica : The Plan ( and , for that matter , the trailer for Caprica ) . peradventure it ’s just me , but I do n’t remember that the show needs an epilog or a prequel spin - off , and the fact that it ’s getting both just feels more than a trivial like SciFi ca n’t say goodbye to such a successful show , and have no problem with a niggling bit of graverobbing to assay and keep the good thing run short a little longer than it should . I ’d roll in the hay to lack Battlestar Galactica ; I just do n’t feel as if I ’m going to get the probability , sadly .
